On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, a ceremony was held at the 251st General Air Force Hospital to inaugurate the renovated Psychiatric Clinic, following a grant by the Athina I. Martinou Foundation. The grant covers renovation work and the provision of equipment for the Psychiatric Clinic, aiming to enhance the quality of the services provided.
The Psychiatric Clinic began operating in 1976 and offers mental health services to active and retired members of the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) and their families, active and retired Civilian Employees of the HAF and their families, active and retired members of the Fire Department and their families, permanent residents of the islands Skyros, Fournoi, Oinousses, Thymaina, Leipsoi, Pserimos, Arkoi, Pharmakonisi, Amorgos, Anafi, Agathonisi, and other categories of beneficiaries of the hospital as defined by applicable regulations.
The Clinic’s mission encompasses clinical, educational, and scientific work. On an annual basis, the direct beneficiaries of the Psychiatric Clinic’s services average around 8,000 people. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and its specialized staff consists of psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, psychologists, trainee psychologists, speech therapists, and nursing personnel.
