Support for the “Opening Pathways to Resilience Together in Samos” Program

The grant supports the initiative “Opening Pathways to Resilience Together in Samos.” The overall aim of the project is to empower young people in Samos through mental well-being, positive psychology, and active participation in the local community. The initiative addresses the long-term effects of the earthquake and the pandemic, which significantly impacted the island community, increasing feelings of isolation, uncertainty, and disconnection—particularly among youth.

Through experiential workshops in schools, participants will develop skills in resilience, optimism, and emotional expression. The initiative will culminate in a participatory community celebration, showcasing students’ creative work, short talks, and interactive activities. This intervention contributes substantially to strengthening social cohesion and the sustainability of island life, building bridges across generations and local institutions. The program involves active collaboration with schools, educators, local mental health professionals, and cultural organizations. The estimated number of beneficiaries over the course of the grant is approximately 300 individuals.

The initiative is implemented through a grant from the Athina I. Martinou Foundation as part of the “Support Points” Program, under the thematic focus: “Strengthening Island and Other Coastal Local Communities.”
