Support for the Program “Upgrading of the volunteering system for forest fire protection teams 2024-2026”

Desmos Non Profit Foundation, in collaboration with WWF Greece and HIGGS (Higher Incubator Giving Growth & Sustainability) implements a nationwide programme for the “Upgrading of the volunteering system for forest fire protection teams 2024-2026”, consisting of numerous actions aimed at training, empowering and supporting their work in preventing and responding to forest fires.

The aim of the project is to upgrade the operational capacity of suppressing forest fires of selected volunteer civil protection teams nationwide, and their active participation in drawing up prevention plans. This will be achieved by providing specialised knowledge and firefighting equipment, as well as through political advocacy actions to activate the relevant institutional framework regarding the operation of volunteer teams.

The program is implemented under the auspices of “Initiative 21” and with the support of the National Bank of Greece, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Athina I. Martinou Foundation.
