CYCLADES PRESERVATION FUND

The CYCLADES PRESERVATION FUND (CPF) was established in 2017 in the United Kingdom and in 2021 in Greece, with the mission to support sustainable initiatives and promote the preservation of the natural beauty of the Cyclades.

Its mission is to support and empower local initiatives and communities centered around the Cyclades, aiming to protect and preserve vulnerable island ecosystems, promote the responsible use of natural resources, and consciously mitigate human pressures on both terrestrial and marine environments.

CPF is a member of the Conservation Collective, a global network of 21 members operating in 12 countries focused on restoring nature, addressing the climate crisis, and protecting the natural environment. Additionally, CPF is part of the international initiative Revive Our Ocean, which works to protect and restore marine ecosystems with an emphasis on engaging local communities.

Implementation of an international campaign in Greece for the protection and sustainable management of the seas

The grant pertains to the support for the international campaign Revive Our Ocean (ROO) in Greece. The campaign aligns with the 30×30 target and aims to inspire and activate citizens and government bodies to protect and sustainably manage the seas. ROO is implemented by the organizations National Geographic Pristine Seas and Dynamic Planet, with CPF selected as the coordinator in Greece.

The ROO strategy is based on three pillars:

Inspire: Engaging audiences through screenings of the documentary Ocean narrated by David Attenborough.

Enable: Empowering stakeholders by providing knowledge, tools, and platforms for dialogue.

Equip: Providing organizations and citizens with skills and resources to take action, ensuring marine environment protection while promoting an economic model that supports coastal communities (fishermen, diving centers) connected to the marine environment (conservation business model).

The campaign will launch with the Greek premiere of the documentary Ocean with David Attenborough at the Athens Concert Hall on October 3, 2025.
