The School conducts, facilitates, and promotes research in all periods – from the Palaeolithic era to the present – and in all fields of the humanities and social sciences.
The grant pertains to cover the excavation costs on Keros. Keros is one of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites and the most important regarding the maritime transport of goods. The proposed new excavations aim to answer questions related to the construction and transportation of goods, control of navigation, and distribution.
This is a five-year excavation project, to be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports. During this period, scientific analyses, study of findings, and creation of databases, academic articles, as well as information dissemination, will take place. Very advanced excavation and recording techniques will be used, along with interdisciplinary analysis of samples and materials, in parallel with the traditional study of the findings.
