The Epirus (ΑΕΝ) has been in operation since 1973 at Vathy, Preveza, and is one of 11 Merchant Navy Academies in Greece.
From 1973 until 1992, it operated as a School for Radiotelegraph Operators. In 1991 it also hosted the Sea Captains School. The Academy provides the option for students to reside within its facilities. It is worth noting that the Epirus Academy also holds an old, integrated ship communications system.
Studies at the Merchant Navy Academy include 6 semesters of theoretical education and 2 semesters of practical training at sea, providing contemporary and specialised knowledge, by the system of alternance training, whereby training alternates between school and ship.
