“Journalism Initiative” Non-Profit Civil Partnership

Founded in 2018 by journalists. The aim of the organization is to protect society's right to comprehensive and unhindered information.

One of its first actions was the “Mati Observatory”, with the aim to bring attention to the events in Mati through interventions. Through persistent and long-term involvement with the residents of the affected areas, the “Mati Observatory” succeeded in promoting more effective citizen organization, helping to monitor recovery efforts and the proper management of funds allocated by the state and donations, as well as resolving practical issues by acting as an intermediary with the government.

Through its activities, the Initiative has focused on efforts to combat the negative image of NGOs in the media and the general public.

For the creation of 4 stand-alone documentaries on the sustainability of the Cyclades

The grant is part of the “Sustainable Cyclades” Program and pertains to the financing of four stand-alone short documentaries aimed at highlighting some of the impasse created by irresponsible tourism development in the Cyclades, while contributing to documenting the uniqueness of Cycladic life. A central focus will be paid on the personal testimonies of the local residents of each area and the interaction and involvement of the residents with the journalists.
